AMHERST, NY--An incident involving a garbage truck in the Town of Amherst has officials asking nearby residents to keep their windows shut and their air conditioners off.

Hazmat officials were called to the area of Teakwood Terrace between Bryant and Maple after someone called 9-1-1 to report feeling sick. Hazmat crews were called as a precaution because officials did not know what is in the truck at the time.

Police officials later determined pool chemicals were the culprit.

Three people were taken to Millard Suburban Hospital to get checked out. One person was having difficulty breathing and two others said they felt nauseous.

2 On Your Side has a news crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
