BUFFALO, NY-- Severeal roads were flooded and closed later Friday after more than 2 to 3 inches of rain hit.
Driving in Niagara county was especially difficult. There was a driving ban in the City of Lockport.
Also, police say Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst was one of the hardest hit areas in the region. Traffic outside the Boulevard Mall had to be detoured when roads become too dangerous.
Lt. Patrick Lucey of Amherst Police told 2 On Your Side, "it was the amount of rain that came in. The sewer system couldn't hold the amount of water, the sanitary lines were completely full, you could see the water bubbling out of the sanitary lines."
Still, our news crews saw some drivers risking their safety by driving through the water. Some vehicles stalled in the water, while others were found submerged.
