BUFFALO, NY - Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz is lucky after a burglar broke into his Buffalo home while he was sleeping Monday morning around 5:30.

Poloncarz told 2 On Your Side that he heard someone or something moving around and immediately yelled at the burglar and notified police.

That's when the burglar took off from his home.

Our Scott Levin asked him if he believes he was targeted or if he thought it was random.

Poloncarz said, "I have no idea, I'd like to think it was random.  No matter what, I'm just glad the intruder was arrested and thank the Buffalo Police Department for their quick reaction and finding him in a short period of time."

Poloncarz noticed that one of his baseball bats was missing; and later that morning police apprehended a 22 year-old man walking nearby with his bat.

The suspect has been charged with burglary.
