BUFFALO, NY - If you are interested in helping in the fight against cancer, now is the time.
The American Cancer Society is beginning a national Cancer Prevention Study and participants from Erie County are beginning their physical enrollment appointments Tuesday.
Requirements to participate in the study include being between the ages of 30 and 65 and never having cancer (not including basal or squamous cell skin cancer).
This study, known as Cancer Prevention Study 3 - or CPS 3, will attempt to find a cause stemming from genetics, environment, or lifestyle choices.
Participants will be asked to complete a survey, have blood drawn, and their waist measured. They must be willing to make a long term commitment to the study, with follow-up surveys every 2-3 years for 20 years.
Enrollment will continue to take place at the following locations (walk-ins welcome):
Erie County Dept. of Health- Tuesday, June 18, 2013- 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus- Wednesday, June 19, 2013- 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
BlueCross BlueShield of WNY- Thursday, June 20, 2013- 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant- Thursday, June 20, 2013- 1:00 p.m.- 6 p.m.
