CLARENCE, N.Y. - A Clarence High School senior was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crossed over the center line and hit a vehicle head-on Wednesday morning.
State Police say the crash happened just before 9 a.m. on Main Street near Harris Hill in Clarence.
Troopers say it all started when the motorcycle was pulled over for a routine traffic matter. After initially complying, the victim, identified as Patrick Conway, 18 of Clarence, took off down Main Street at a high rate of speed down Main Street and hit the oncoming SUV. A witness told a 2 On Your Side photographer at the scene that the motorcycle burst into flames upon impact.
In a statement posted on their website Wednesday afternoon, the school district said counselors are being made available for students and staff to help them deal with the tragedy.
