AKRON, N.Y.-Saturday afternoon the Green Bay Packers selected former Akron High School standout J.C. Tretter in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.
Tretter played his college football at Cornell. Now he'll get the chance to realize his NFL dream. JC told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "you work your entire life for this moment and then you see the Wisconsin area code pop up on your phone and you see that their on the clock and you're just hoping its not a prank or anything like that. When you start talking to the coaches the emotion comes over you and you can't really describe the excitement that you feel."
A sign saying "Packers" was painted in Green Bay colors and taped to the garage door. Tretter's parents Joe and Cindi shared their excitement with Stu. Joe said "we didn't care which one of the 32 teams picked us, or picked JC, I say us because it has been a journey of the whole family." JC's mom Cindy said "we watched his facial expression as he started to talk to the team and the coaches and then I saw this huge smile erupt on his face and honestly I just started to cry. I knew it was good news."
Tretter will wear number 73 when he reports to the Packers. Tretter joins Niagara Falls native James Starks who played his college football at UB with the Packers.
