Amherst, NY - The weather was picture perfect for the 14th annual Summit Walk for Autism Awareness event in Amherst. More than three thousand people took part in this fundraising event.

Participants, especially families with children with autism, feel it also helps them to understand they are not alone in coping with the unique challenges. Joe Brown's son Matthew has autism. He says "Initially it was devastating to first hear that diagnosis but then we had a lot of support from our friends, our family, our church members, our co - workers and just the amount of support we received from those folks and the folks in the autism community has made it a lot more easy and has helped us understand what autism is about and how to best get treatment for our Matthew."

The goal for Saturday's event was $300,000 dollars with Channel 2 serving as a proud sponsor. Those contributions are more crucial then ever with reductions in government funding.
