BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Overall, air quality is improving nationwide and here locally, but there is still work to do, according to a new report.
The American Lung Association's "State of the Air 2013" ranks cities and counties nationwide, and the result is mixed in Western New York.
Erie County got a "B" for 2013 for ozone, which is the biggest problem in this area. That's greatly improved from a decade ago.
Niagara County was slightly worse, getting a "C" for ozone.
Chautauqua County got an "F" once again for ozone, and is among the worst counties in the state. Even though it got a failing grade, the report said air quality is improving in the Southern Tier.
Other Western New York counties were not specifically ranked due to a lack of data.
