HOLLAND, N.Y. -- Some parents take their kids to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate their birthday. But a couple from Delevan chose to spend it with firefighters and EMS technicians with good reason.
Elliot Bojanowski's birthday party was held at the Holland Fire Department Tuesday night because one year ago his parents were on their way to the hospital, when Elliot decided he didn't want to make the ride.
So they had to pull over and call 911.
"We responded to a woman in labor at the Wells Mini Mart. And when we responded, we got on scene and I just knew. I just knew she wasn't going to make to the hospital. So we kept her and her husband as calm as possible," said EMS Captain Sue Corey.
"We're having Eliott meet his heroes for the first time. It's one of the most memorable nights of my life so I figured it was perfect for his year birthday to come here and meet the people who brought him into the world," said Elliot's parents, April and Craig Bojanowski.
Sue says the birth was pretty textbook. The Holland Fire Company worked as a team and everything went smoothly, considering it was the only birth they've had in at least 25 years.
