BUFFALO, NY-- A call tonight for local volunteers to take part in a nationwide cancer prevention study.

Erie County officials and several health partners announced the American Cancer Society's cancer prevention study, known as the "CPS-3 Study."

The study aims to help researchers better understand the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that can cause or prevent cancer.

"The CPS-3 study will really help us make substantial gains in our knowledge. So, we'll understand again, more simple things we can do to prevent cancer amongst ourselves and amongst our loved ones," says Dr. Gail Burstein, Erie County Health Commissioner.

Dr. Burstein says she has already enrolled in the study.

Researchers are looking to recruit men and women in our area, between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer.

Residents wanting to enroll in the study should register at Participants will be prompted to choose a date and time to enroll, and will then receive a detailed email questionnaire requiring approximately 45 minutes to complete.
