BUFFALO, NY-- A Buffalo teen accused of setting a puppy on fire is headed to trial.
Police say Adell Ziegler, 19, doused Phoenix the puppy with lighter fluid last October. He plead not guilty to aggravated animal cruelty. He could face up to two years in prison.
Ziegler and his lawyers were in court on Wednesday. His non-jury trial is scheduled for June.
Ziegler's accomplice, Diondre Brown, 17, plead guilty to felony animal cruelty. His sentencing is scheduled for April 22. Brown will also testify in Zeigler's trial.
Phoenix is recovering from several surgeries and skin grafts.
