BUFFALO, N.Y. - A group of Western New Yorkers came together Tuesday evening to run in honor of those who died and those who were injured in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.

Members of Team Red White and Blue, a Veterans Services Organization, ran at Delaware Park to honor the victims and survivors of the marathon.

The decision to organize a run was made Monday night on social media, and about two dozen runners showed up Tuesday to take part.

Jeff Gramlich was one of those runners.

He is a Marine Corps veteran and said it was easy for him to make the decision to run, after he saw the images from the Boston Marathon.

"It actually brings me right back to being in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was in both, so it's just terrible to watch," Gramlich said. "I don't know, it's just a cowardly way to hurt people. It's just not right. We dealt with that a lot as military members overseas, so it kind of brings you back. Makes you feel that helplessness. That's why it's great to be out here today, because you get that fire, that strength, that determination back within you."

The veterans say this just shows the strength of the American spirit and how it can't be broken.

A separate run is planned for 9 a.m. Sunday in Delaware Park.
Runners will be able to donate to the Red Cross at the run.
