NEWFANE, NY-- The seven teenagers from Newfane High School who were arrested last week in South Carolina are facing more punishment from the school district.
Police in Myrtle Beach say the teenagers, who were in town for a baseball tournament, allegedly stole several pairs of expensive sunglasses from a store.
In addition to being suspended from school for three days, the Superintendent and the district's Athletic Code of conduct Committee are requiring the students to serve 60 hours of community service.
The entire team will forfeit the first two games of the season. After those two games, the seven players will be suspended from the team for half of the rest of the season. The entire team will also have to forfeit postseason games.
Four of the seven students accused will meet with the Superintendent on Thursday and could face more sanctions by the school district.
