BUFFALO, NY - Adrian F. Harris will file signature petitions for the Park District seat on the Buffalo Board of Education on Tuesday. He is prepared to face-off with Buffalo developer Carl Paladino.

It was first reported in The Buffalo News that Harris was offered a job with the City of Buffalo as a recreational aide last week by the Mayor. Last year, Harris passed a civil service test. He says he was interviewed for the job in October, but not until a week before he submits signature petitions for the school board did he get a call to meet with the Mayor.

"I just thought it was really strange that they got back to me without any explanation, then offered me a job when they said they were calling me in for an interview," said Harris."

Mayor Byron Brown calls any conspiracy "absolute nonsense." He says "there was an inaccurate media report that attempted to indicate a conspiracy where none existed."

Harris has a Master's degree and is a Teacher's Assistant at Lancaster High School. His children attend public schools.

Paladino told 2 On Your Side's Claudine Ewing, "there is no truth" to any speculation that this was possibly a way of the Mayor siding with him for the board seat.

Paladino recently won over the Mayor's support for a huge development project.

When asked if he will endorse a school board candidate, Mayor Brown said "I'm not getting involved with the political process of the school board races at all."

Harris said he was disappointed that the Mayor didn't know his credentials when they met last week in City Hall.

Harris is not taking the city job because the hours wouldn't permit him to attend evening school board meetings.

The Park seat is currently held by Lou Petrucci. He is not seeking re-election.
