MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Seven players from the Newfane High School baseball team in town for a tournament were caught Monday night shoplifting five pairs of designer sunglasses worth nearly $800.

A complaint filed with the Myrtle Beach Police Department by an employee of Sunglass Hut says that a surveillance video shows some of the suspects taking the sunglasses from a display case and hiding them while others distracted the store clerk.

A security guard who had followed the suspects from the store contacted police who stopped their car and asked about the missing glasses. The glasses and several other items that had been taken from other stores were returned.

The names of three of the offenders, all age 18, were released: Brian Ratajczak, Reid Weber and Mitchell Valery.

Two of the suspects were issued juvenile summonses for shoplifting, according to the police report, and five were issued warrants for shoplifting.
