TONAWANDA, NY - A 56-year-old man is being treated for serious injuries after falling down a flight of metal stairs at Tonawanda Coke Thursday morning.
Paramedics, along with the Sheridan Park Fire Department, were called out to respond to the scene around 8:30 a.m. When they got there they found that the man had fallen from the third floor to the second. Rescue crews needed to bring the victim down using a rope because the stairs were too steep and narrow to walk him down.
Firefighters described the area as a shaft near a conveyor belt. The man, as yet unidentified, was conscious at the time and taken to ECMC for treatment.
