BUFFALO, NY - We have an update on one of Buffalo's newest and perhaps most adorable babies. We're talking about Luna -- the polar bear cub.
She's gone from one pound at birth to a whopping 30 pounds at 15 weeks old. Sounds like a lot, but that's nothing compared to the 600 pounds she'll end up being.
The Buffalo Zoo is hoping they can keep the cub around for years and years to come but, in order to do that, they need to build a new habitat for her to live in. That will cost around $18 million. They've raised $14 million to date, so that means another $4 million is needed.
Right now, Luna, as she's called, is drinking about 100 ounces of formula a day -- and eating a bit of meat. She's living at the zoo full time. Alice, her handler, said it was time. She's not technically out for display, but, if you visit the zoo, you can see her.
