BUFFALO, NY-Those connected to Canisius College, a Jesuit institution in Buffalo, are beaming over the selection of the new Pope.
Pope Francis is a Jesuit and a first from the Americas.
2 On Your Side's Claudine Ewing was with students and others as they watched Wednesday afternoon's announcement. Those gathered were literally on the edge of their seats waiting for the news.
When they learned the new Pope was a Cardinal from Argentina, you could sense the pride at the selection of the world's first Jesuit Pope.
"I'm very proud and happy to be a Jesuit tonight," said Father Patrick Lynch. Father Lynch says it's uncommon for a Jesuit to seek higher office. He adds that he expects to see more evangelizing under Pope Francis.
