BUFFALO, NY - A 22-year-old Buffalo man died after being shot while driving his vehicle on Buffalo's East Side Friday at about 8:30 p.m.
Buffalo Police Department officials say that Michael D. Smith was shot in the leg as he was driving his Dodge Durango in the vicinity of Hagen Avenue and Lang Street. He crashed into another vehicle a block or so away, at East Delevan Avenue and Newburgh Street. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he later died.
Two other shootings occurred in the city Thursday night. One person was shot in the hand shortly after 10 p.m. on Roslyn Street, not far from the scene of the earlier shooting. Buffalo police say the victim was not cooperative when they got to the scene.
Two other males were hit in a drive-by on Bailey Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. All three were treated at ECMC and released.
Police do not know whether there is any connection between the earlier fatal shooting and the two later incidents.
