ALBANY, N.Y. - The New York State Senate has passed a bill named for Amanda Wienckowski, the local woman who's body was found in a garbage tote in January 2009.

The proposed law would make it a felony to improperly dispose of a body.

The bill has passed the Senate the past two years.  It will now go to the Assembly for consideration.

After her body was found four years ago, the first autopsy report listed her death as an accidental drug overdose.
Later, a second autopsy performed by a pathologist hired by Wiencowski's family, ruled her death as a strangulation.

However, Erie County officials stand by their original cause of death.
