BUFFALO, NY - A panel of urban development leaders met Monday morning in Buffalo to discuss the HSBC Tower and what the future may hold for downtown's tallest office building.

Some 40 members of the Urban Land Institute have come to Buffalo from all over the country. They will spend a few days looking at the 38-story, 851-thousand-square-foot tower to help find the perfect solution and use for the building. Tours and interviews will take place Tuesday. Based in information gathered Tuesday, closed door talks are set for Wednesday to discuss ideas. A news conference to present the group's proposal is scheduled for Thursday morning.

HSBC, The Canadian Consulate and the Phillips Lytle Law Firm are the largest tenants, taking up nearly 90-percent of the building. All three have left or will leave by the end of the year.

Seneca One Realty, the New York City based investment group that owns the buildings, is reportedly considering several options including a mixed-use scenario may include apartments or condos and even a hotel as well as office space.
