CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres left Western New York early on Friday in hopes of making it to Long Island for Saturday's game against the Islanders.

The Sabres re-scheduled a flight out of Prior Aviation in Cheektowaga. The team was originally supposed to leave at 3 p.m. Instead, they left around 11 a.m.

As of right now, Saturday's game on Long Island is still scheduled to take place at 7 p.m., despite the storm moving into the Long Island area.

The Sabres are scheduled to play the Boston Bruins on Sunday at 7 p.m. at First Niagara Center.

It is not clear if the Bruins will be able to make it to Western New York.  More than two feet of snow is expected to fall in the Boston area, and thousands of flights have been canceled in the New England region.
