NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Several 2 on Your Side viewers called our newsroom Tuesday afternoon complaining of discolored water in Niagara Falls N.Y. We took their questions to the city's water board.
A PR representative for the board says workers have been exercising valves in the area of Buffalo Avenue preparing for the reconstruction project there, which is what caused the discolored water.
The water board says "water quality should not be compromised during this incident and is totally safe for consumption." They say they have notified the county health department as a precaution.
The board's representative says workers are flushing hydrants to try and clear the water. They also recommend customers run the cold water tap from the lowest point of their residence or business for up to 3 minutes or until the water runs clear.
If your water doesn't clear up, call 283-9770.
