FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. - A Pennsylvania woman was arrested for DWI after police say she drove down into a ditch while texting and driving early Sunday morning.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says Zoe Brooks, 20, had a B.A.C. of .08% or greater when she drove off Old Road shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers say Brooks is charged with DWI, moving from lane unsafely, and using a handheld electronic device.
Deputies added that Brook's boyfriend, Jesse Yates, 21, also arrived at the scene of the crash in an attempt to help Brooks.
Investigators say a Peak n Peak Security Officer saw Yates drive up to the scene and park in the middle of the road.
Deputies say that after interviewing Yates, police arrested him for DWI, Aggravated DWI B.A.C. of .18% or greater, and parking on the highway.
Officers say that both Brooks and Yates were released to a third party and will appear in French Creek Town Court at a later date.
