The Bethlehem Steel Building in Lackawanna.
LACKAWANNA, N.Y. -- It's a sight that local preservationists were dreading.
Demolition work is underway on the abandoned Bethlehem Steel Administration Building on Route 5 in Lackawanna.
They've made multiple, yet unsuccessful appeals to save the building. They contend the building is architecturally significant, that it could be saved, and that there are some developers who may be interested in the property.
They were unable to convince Lackawanna Mayor Geoffrey Symanski however, to stop the demolition.
