AMHERST, NY-- Amherst Police have charged three men in connection to 12 burglaries in Amherst and Williamsville.
Police also believe the trio may be connected to 25 other burglaries in Akron, Alden, Cheektowaga, Clarence, Newstead and West Seneca.
Kevin Zimmerman,23, Jeffrey Zimmerman, 29, and Alfred Tatman, 26, have been charged with burglary and other charges.
Detectives say the burglaries began in October of last year when an Amherst Police officer noticed a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of a burglary.
Amherst Police say the State Police and Erie County Sheriff's Office are also investigating numerous overnight business burglaries in their towns and discovered the same vehicle was seen leaving the scene of burglaries in the town of Clarence.
Officials say most of the burglaries happened at businesses after they were closed for the night; but two of the burglaries were at residences in Amherst.
Police says three handguns and two long guns were stolen during the burglaries.
Jeffrey Zimmerman was arraigned in Amherst Town Court by Judge Geoffrey Klein. Bail was set at $25,000. Kevin Zimmerman is currently in custody after an arrest by Cheektowaga Police for an attempted burglary in their jurisdiction. Alfred Tatman is making arrangements to surrender to Amherst Police this week.
