More studies are needed to support the use of interventions in children with autism.

An expert panel reviewed results of over 100 studies testing interventions aimed at improving social, behavioral, language and adaptive skills of autistic children.

While they found benefits to many programs aimed at kids with asperger's syndrome and high functioning autism, they concluded most interventions ranged from moderate to insufficient.

They stress the need for larger and better studies to test autism treatments -- especially for adolescents and young adults.
