BATAVIA, N.Y. - One man has been taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after walking into oncoming traffic, according to police.
Batavia Police say the man, who is aproximately 50-years-old, had appeared to have been drinking when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking east on West Main Street near Lyon Street Saturday evening.
Police say the man appeared to have serious head injuries and added that there was no indication of any wrongdoing on the part of the driver of the pickup truck.
Officers say that prior to the accident, someone had tried to help the man out of the road, but the man refused, and was hit shortly thereafter.
Batavia Police have not indicated any charges at this time.
