BUFFALO, N.Y. - There is an increased security presence at Western New York schools on the first day of classes following the mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
In Williamsville, that meant prior to the start of school, all buildings underwent a security sweep. Also Amherst police officers were stationed at every school for arrivals Monday morning and they'll be there for dismissal too.
Hutch-Tech in Buffalo was letting kids in slowly, only two or three at a time. A half hour after school was supposed to begin there was still a line to get inside.
