ATTICA, NY - A Wyoming County resident helped police chase down a man she said broke into her home.

It happened Wednesday on North View Park in Attica.

An Attica Police officer noticed a man running across North Walnut Street with a female chasing behind him.

The woman reported to the officer that she found the man in her  house and when she called her husband, the suspect fled. She told police she was able to grab his jacket before he took off.

Police found the jacket, and items stolen from the victim's home, in a nearby ravine.

After an extensive search, police were able to identify and arrest a suspect.

Joshua M. Beck, 19, was arraigned on burglary and petit larceny charges. He was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, $100,000 bond and with a return court date of Januray 7, 2013.

While police say the victim's actions led police to Beck, they do not recommend victims confronting unknown people in their homes.
