Batavia, NY - Two Batavia city firefighters were back in court for allegedly running a sports gambling ring.

Gregory Phillips and Brian Bordinaro both pleaded guilty to a single count of promoting gambling.

Another man, Lance Engle, also pleaded guilty to the same misdemeanor charge.

The men were originally facing felony charges for allegedly running part of the operation from a fire hall.

Phillips Attorney Larry Andolina says, "This was people gambling on football games. It was blown so out of proportion. That's why it ended up being a misdemeanor."

All three men face up to one year in jail.

Sentencing is set for March.
