NIAGARA FALLS, NY-- Niagara Falls firefighters have been battling a stubborn fire for several hours.
Firefighters were called to 1501 College Avenue around 4am for a large debris fire.
The site is a an off-site location for Niagara Generation. They take construction and demolition debris and turn it into woodchips.
The Niagara Falls Fire Department says the pile is non-hazardous, but continues to burn. As a result of this incident, College Avenue is closed between Hyde Park Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
Route 31 (College Ave.) is closed between Rt. 61 (Hyde Park Blvd.) & Highland Ave due to the fire.
Residents have reported seeing smoke in the area for several hours.
