Phoenix Update: Teen Pleads Guilty to Animal Cruelty

BUFFALO, NY-- One of the teens accused of setting fire to a puppy, has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita says Diondre Brown, 17, admitted he acted as a look-out for Adell Ziegler, the other teen suspect.

Officials say Ziegler, 19, has been indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

The teens are accused of setting fire to a Jack Russell Terrier puppy in October that caused burns to over 50% of the dog's body.

The puppy, named Phoenix, has had to undergo several surgeries, but is doing well.

Brown faces a miniumum of five years probation and a maximum of two years in prison when sentenced in January.
