BUFFALO, N.Y. - "People in the street are talking and singing like the Temptations to one another," the words of Buffalo Common Councilmember Darius Pridgen. He was referring to people coming forward with information on the suspects seen on a video surveillance tape breaking into the home and attacking  a 96-year-old man.

Pridgen says "now what they need to do is to talk to police on confidential tipcall lines," about the Longview Avenue home invasion.

A reward was going to be announced Thursday evening, but that has been put on hold. The reason, according to Pridgen, "Because there are people who have already given the police some leads, but again there's just not enough so we don't want to be disingenuous to those who stepped out early to give leads, so we want to encourage those who know, because there's many more people who know," what happened and who did it."

The victim,  Levi Clayton is still recovering at ECMC and listed in fair condition.

Buffalo Police say three people forcibly entered the home and struck the man in the head, face and arms shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Two On Your Side's Claudine Ewing spoke with the niece of the victim. You can hear what she had to say in the video player on this page.

Police say the three people ransacked the house, destroying at least two flat screen televisions and stealing jewelry, cash, hunting rifles, shotguns and other items before leaving.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Buffalo Police confidential tipline at 847-2255.
