BUFFALO, NY - The Big Box stores and malls may have been packed on Thursday Night and early Friday morning but there is an even bigger push this holiday season to get people to shop local.

The Elmwood Village in Buffalo is holding a Black Friday boutique crawl. More than 200 locally owned shops featured special offers and extended hours.

The Broadway Market kicked off a food and craft fair that will continue on Saturdays through the holiday season.

Saturday is Shop Local Saturday. The effort is designed to counter the traditional big box store shopping on Black Friday. Several local stores are taking part, offering discounts and extended hours.

Visit Buffalo Niagara also has an e-store where customers can order items that promote Buffalo and are made in Western New York.
