ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 40-year-old Buffalo man is in a Rochester jail after authorities say he tried to elude police who had pulled him over.
State police say troopers stopped 40-year-old Leonard Harrison late Wednesday night on Lyell Avenue in the Rochester suburb of Gates. Police say he gave troopers an invalid New York state driver's license and appeared to be intoxicated.
Police say Harrison then sped off, with troopers in pursuit. He turned around on Lyell Avenue and hit a civilian vehicle near Interstate 390 before fleeing on foot. Police caught him a short time later after a brief chase.
The charges against Harrison include felony driving while intoxicated, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. He's being held in Monroe County Jail.
It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
