BATAVIA, NY - A Batavia woman who was found guilty of punching an elderly Walmart greeter in the face last Christmas eve was sentenced to five years in prison.
Twenty seven-year-old Jacquetta Simmons was taken into custody right after the judge handed down the sentence.
A jury found Simmons guilty of punching 70-year-old Grace Suozzi.
Simmons was convicted under the state's "Granny Law," which gives stiffer penalties for an assault on someone 65 or older.
Simmons attorney says they plan to appeal the sentence.
