BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A three-chair mobile dental clinic is ready to hit the road from the University at Buffalo.
The 42-foot long clinic unveiled Friday is built on a semi-trailer chassis. It's bound for Chautauqua County, where it will move between 24 elementary schools and treat children.
The western New York county has been designated a Dental Health Professional Shortage Area, with few dentists serving Medicaid-eligible patients.
The UB dental school's state-of-the-art mobile clinic, called "S-miles To Go," is equipped with a panoramic X-ray unit, digital radiography and electronic patient records.
It was funded by a grant from the federal government, as well as private donations.
