BUFFALO, NY -- Rick Jeanneret is staying busy, even though there is no Sabres season to do play-by-play for.

He will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto on Monday, accepting the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for his contributions to hockey broadcasting.

Jeanneret says he's happy because his entire family will travel to see him recieve the honor.  That includes his mother, who's in her 90's.  Jeanneret told a group of reporters on Friday, he started thinking about putting in for Hall of Fame honors in the past few years, so she would be able to see him accept the awards.

The soon-to-be Hall of Fumer also says he never intended to be a hockey play-by-play guy.  What he really wanted to be was a disc jockey.  He got to do a little of that over the years, but Jeanneret says he's happy with how his life path ended up.  That's a sentiment Sabres fans are sure to share.
