Buffalo, NY - November is lung cancer awareness month.

More people die from that than any other type of cancer.

Still, it can be difficult to fund research because of the stigma it has as a smokers' disease.

On Saturday morning, lung cancer patients, survivors, their families and doctors gathered for the Breath of Life Celebration at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

It's an opportunity to find out about the latest in lung cancer research and treatment while hearing inspiring stories from survivors and their families. Many of them helped raise money for research.

The family of Sue Sullivan also shared her legacy. She died this year after battling lung cancer, but not before raising around $150,000 dollars for research.

Her family presented a check for 46-thousand dollars from events they've continued, and wanted to share their own message of hope.

New strides are being made in screening for lung cancer and treating tumors at the molecular level.
