Summary:
This is a rematch from Week 6 when the Red Raiders defeated the Quakers 35-28.
This is the 4th time these 2 teams have met in the Championship game, with Orchard Park winning 2 (1998, 2011) and Jamestown winning 2 (1986, 1993).
There is outstanding talent on both sides of the ball and the contest will feature smash mouth football at its best.
Quakers are defending State Champs and their skilled players are outstanding. Ben Holmes, Sr. QB, has passed for 1,171 yards and 13 TDs while rushing for 590 yards and 7 TDs. Mitch Wilson, Sr. RB, has rushed for 1,236 yards and 18 TDs, while Austin Goltz, Sr. WR, has caught 29 passes for 550 yards and 11 TDs. Both Goltz and Wilson can be explosive on kick returns. Defense is led by Connor Eddy, Chris SanFilippo, Tucker Gamble, and Jeff Modkins. The line is excellent, led by Mike Senn, Adam Belica, and Hunter Drew. Kicking game has been erratic.
While passing for 1,434 yards and 15 TDs, Da'Quan Hollingsworth has rushed for 1,285 yards and 21 TDs, while Zach Panebianco has caught 25 passes for 552 yards and 8 TDs. Defensively, the Red Raiders are led by Cortland Haines, Mike Watson, Justin Capuano, and John Czech. Panebianco has given the Red Raiders more consistency in the kicking game.
Note: Neither team has kicked a field goal this season.
Sleeper Stars of the Game:
Mike Watson Ralph Pagliei
Prediction:
This game is a tossup and whomever wins the turnover battle should proceed to the State Regionals next week. Special teams could have a huge impact on the outcome.
