Buffalo, NY - For the most part, the too close to call race for the 27th Congressional District between Kathy Hochul and Chris Collins is being fought on our TV sets.
2 On Your Side's Scott Brown and our partners at Investigative Post looked into how much money is being spent on ads for the seat, and where is all that money coming from.
The two candidates have already spent about $4 Million dollars on commercials. That's based on public records from TV stations in Buffalo and Rochester.
Collins is outspending Hochul by about $500,000.
He's spent $2.2 Million so far, and Hochul has spent about $1.7 Million
$1.6 Million of Collins money has come from Super PACs.
Hochul has raised $600,000 from one Super Pac.
The Super PACs are outside groups that because of a Supreme Court ruling are able to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money on candidates. Many of them don't have to reveal their donors.
