Lewiston, NY - Anyone who's dealt with cancer knows that you can feel helpless at times. A college student was dealing with that feeling while studying accounting as part of her marketing major when Nicolette Sepielli came up with a way to do something to help.

She started a charity called Recycle for a Cause. By collecting bottles and cans to recycle, she not only helped the environment, but raised $5,000 for her cousin who is now in remission after battling Ewings Sarcoma.

Nicolette says, "I knew that the bills were piling high and she hasn't been able to work. So, I decided to do a recycling fundraiser for her."

As you can imagine, this generosity was overwhelming for her cousin. Even more important than the money, is knowing that someone cares so much.

Nicolette's success is also an inspiration and motivation to other students to help her with her next goal.

Michael Federspiel with Niagara University's Accounting Society says, "From just seeing her really be like a go getter and really driving this to make it a success, it's just it's inspiring to see someone take on this responsibility."

Assistant Accounting Professor Chris Aquino encouraged Nicolette from the beginning.  He says this is part of Niagara University's mission. "To help those less fortunate, and I feel like this project fits right in with that... to see it in action like this is really something special. Kids are learning more than how to run a business, but how to care about other people."

Nicolette has a new goal.  She's working to raise $10,000 for Camp Good Days and Special Times by September.
She plans to use that money to buy items off the organization's wish list. Camp Good Days Regional Director Lisa Donato says that would free up funding for programming for a year for 10 children.

You can help Nicolette reach her goal, but dropping off bottles and cans at the following locations;
