The American Academy of Pediatrics is re-affirming its stance that kids should avoid backyard trampolines.
The AAP states youngest children are at greatest risk for injury when jumping... especially kids under age 5.
Nearly half of injuries in this age group result in broken bones or dislocations.
Experts say that although trampoline injury rates have been decreasing in the past decade -- there were nearly 98-thousand trampoline-related injuries in the u-s during 2009 alone.
The AAP also says "failed attempts at somersaults and flips frequently cause cervical spine injuries, resulting in permanent and devastating consequences. homeowners with a trampoline should verify that their insurance covers trampoline injury-related claims."
