BUFFALO, N.Y.- Bishop Timon pulled off the upset, shocking St. Joe's 17-14 to move to 3-0 in MMA play and dropping the Marauders to 2-1. Both teams sit at 6-1 overall.
St. Joes first possession ended with a blocked punt that was recovered by Bishop Timon in the endzone 1:30 into the first quarter to give the Tigers an early 7-0 lead. #30 Jackson Brown was able to pad the Tigers lead to 14-0 with a two yard rushing touchdown at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter St. Joe's #5 Rod Payne had a five yard touchdown run to cut the deficit 14-7 going into the second half. Payne would then tie the game with a 23 yard score in the third quarter to make it 14-14. Tom Dioia hit a 39 yard field goal with 10:00 left for the Tigers which would prove to be a game winner.
St. Joe's had a chance towards the end of the game getting down to the Bishop Timon 35 yard line but the Marauders threw four straight incomplete passes to turn the ball over on downs with 3:00 left to giving the Tigers the surprising win.
