Maintaining a healthy lifestyle into old age can add years to your life!
Swedish researchers studied a group of adults over the age of 75 ... looking at their social, health, and exercise behaviors.
They found smokers died an average of one year earlier than non-smokers ... although those who had quit in middle age gained back that year.
However, physical activity was most strongly linked with survival.
The average age of death for those who exercised regularly was two years later than those who were sedentary.
Overall, healthy behaviors prolonged life by five years for women and six years for men.
