BUFFALO, NY-- The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the remainder of the 2012 preseason schedule.
The league says the cancellation of the preseason schedule was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.
The Buffalo Sabres are scheduled to open the regular season on Saturday October 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the First Niagara Center. It's possible regular season games will be cancelled if the NHL lockout continues.
