Driver Rolls Car to Avoid Hitting Animal

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. - A man told fire officials he rolled his car when he tried to avoid an animal that ran out in front of him.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on the 6900 block of Nash Road.

A fire chief with Adams Fire Company tells 2 On Your Side photojournalist Jim Herr that the driver, who is in his 20's, was traveling northbound on the road when a raccoon darted out in the road.

He avoided hitting the animal but lost control of his vehicle and rolled it over onto the side of the road.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital to be checked out.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
