BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Sabres' Owner Terry Pegula and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown talk about plans for the Webster block development.

Mayor Brown said that when Pegula took over as owner of the Sabres he said he wanted to do something bigger for the community. Little did he realize at the time that the opportunity would be sitting right out the front door of the First Niagara Center.

Monday Pegula and Mayor Brown announced the time line:

Spring 2013- Construction will begin.

Fall 2014- Ice arenas, underground parking, restaurant and retail facilities will open.

Spring 2015- Hotel to open.

As the Mayor and Sabres' owner were talking about the Webster Block, Congressman Brian Higgins was a few blocks away discussing plans for the conversion of Ohio Street. Higgins annouced at Riverfest Park that he will push for a project to be "fast-tracked" to transform the street into a Riverfront Parkway that would connect the inner harbor to the outer harbor.
