Man Attacked by Samurai Sword Assailant

BUFFALO, NY - Police are on the lookout for a man who held up a gas station and then assaulted a person with a samurai sword.

A source who is not allowed to speak publicly on the matter tells 2 On Your Side's Jim Herr that the Sunoco Gas Station at Hertel and Colvin avenues was held up around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

As the robber left the store, a bystander attempted to stop the man. During a scuffle, the robber allegedly cut the bystander's face with a samurai sword.

A worker at the gas station then allegedly struck the sword-wielding man with a baseball bat to stop the attack.

The victim, a man is his 30s, was rushed to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of his wound.

The assailant took off on foot. Buffalo Police continue to search for the man this morning.

 

Police say the suspect is described as a black male, about 6'4 and 300 lbs., and was wearing a blue hoody sweatshirt.
